About UGC NET
The University Grants Commission (UGC) is the national agency of India that coordinates and monitors higher education, connecting Indian students with their counterparts abroad. It also provides recognition to universities, colleges and institutions of higher learning in India. The UGC publishes textbooks on a variety of subjects at the primary, secondary and university levels.

UGC NET In Detail
The syllabus for NET is divided into two papers. Paper I and Paper II.

Paper I consists of 50 questions carrying 100 marks. It is compulsory for all candidates. It contains the questions of General Awareness about Education, Teaching Aptitude, Research Aptitude, Reading Comprehension and Communication.

Paper II has only one question which carries 100 marks and will be based on one or more disciplines from Social Sciences/Humanities/Arts or Natural Sciences as prescribed by the concerned University Grants Commission (UGC) in accordance with its Regulations on award of eligibility status to teaching staff at Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs).

Paper I
Paper I consists of 50 questions carrying 100 marks. It is compulsory for all candidates. It contains the questions of General Awareness about Education, Teaching Aptitude, Research Aptitude, Reading Comprehension and Communication.

The paper will include a question on “Code of Ethics” and will be based on commonly used terms in the syllabus prescribed by UGC/CBSE/ICAR etc., followed by a choice-type question requiring short answers from candidates. Questions may also be asked in relation to any other similar topic which may appear as an optional item in any other competitive examination conducted by reputed universities like AIU / Jamia Milia Islamia / Delhi University etc.,

Paper II
Paper II consists of 100 questions carrying 200 marks. For all subjects, except Marine Sciences, there will be 20 questions each on three topics viz., Subject Disciplines, Subject Methodologies and Research Methodology etc.
