The Air Force is a great place to get your education and career started. The Department of Defense offers benefits for those who want to serve their country, but it's important to understand how these benefits are available and what they mean for you.

The Air Force offers financial assistance for those who qualify for tuition assistance.

If you are eligible for tuition assistance, the Air Force will pay up to 80% of your tuition costs for a program at a regionally or nationally accredited institution. You must be enrolled in a minimum of six semester hours per term and remain active duty/retired until graduation, or complete your degree within four years from initial enrollment.

Dependents are not eligible for this benefit.

Tuition Assistance may be used for any course except physical education, driver training and other non-degree programs that do not result in an earned degree

Airmen with associate’s or bachelor’s degrees may be eligible for an officer commission.

The Enlisted Commissioning Program is a career path that allows enlisted members to earn a commission as an officer while on active duty. Enlisted members who meet the following criteria may apply:

Be an E-4 or above with at least 1 year of service in their current grade and any prior enlisted rating (E-3 through E-6).

Have earned a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university within six months of graduating and are eligible for Officer Candidate School (OCS). If not already enlisted, it is still possible to join OCS when you graduate from college if you meet the other requirements listed here.

The Air Force also offers many educational benefits for officers and enlisted members. For example, if you're an officer or enlisted member in the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC), you can earn credit towards an associate degree through your local community college or vocational/technical school. You'll also have access to online courses through the Air University as well as other military institutions like the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC). These programs provide students with unique opportunities where they can study languages other than English while still serving their country at home or abroad—a scenario that few civilian schools offer!
