The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC), is a department of the government of Tamil Nadu that is responsible for governing the recruitment of personnel into the state's public service. The commission advise the government on all matters pertaining to civil services referred to it under Article 320 (3) of the Constitution and publish notifications inviting applications for selection to various posts as per the requisitions of the appointing authorities, conduct written test and/or practical tests, physical efficiency test and interview, prepare ranked list based on the performance of candidates based on merit criteria observed strictly according to rules laid down by reservation policy in each category including open field category etc."

Eligibility Criteria

The minimum age limit for the recruitment of Tamil Nadu PSC is 18 years. You will have to be a graduate or equivalent with English language proficiency, who has passed the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) Examination.

If you want to apply for this post, then it is important that you have passed all the exams needed like Class 10th or 12th and appeared in them at least twice before applying for this recruitment notice.

How to Apply

The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission conducts the PSC exams for various posts across various departments of the state government. Applicants must apply online, through speed post or by post if they have been allotted a specific post and do not wish to apply online.

The TNPSC website has a section where applicants can find out which exams are being held in their respective districts so that they can plan their schedule accordingly. The exam schedule is available on their website as well as through email updates from time-to-time; however, it should be noted that this information will only be current until one month after publication date (usually April 1st).

Exam Pattern

The exam pattern is the same for all posts. It is designed to test your knowledge and skills, as well as your ability to apply what you know in a practical way. You will be tested on your ability to solve problems, especially those that arise while working on projects or tasks.

Selection Process

Written Test: The written test consists of 2 papers. One paper consists of objective type questions and the other paper has two parts with one part being analytical and other part being descriptive.

Interview: This phase is conducted to select candidates who qualify in both tests, viz., written test and physical efficiency test or medical examination depending on their category (A, B & C).

Syllabus

The syllabus for Tamil Nadu PSC exams is as follows:

General Studies (20 marks)

Arithmetic (20 marks)

Reasoning (30 Marks)

The General Knowledge section contains questions on current affairs, history and geography. This includes a section that tests your knowledge on Tamil Nadu and its history, culture, people and places. You will also be tested on general science topics such as biology, chemistry etc., which are common to all states in India
